The Opportunity
The role of Recreation Assistant is customer facing at all times and provides the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of leisure activities. The role of a Recreation Attendant provides an exciting working day, every day, in a social environment with the opportunity to gain further skills and qualifications.
Additional earning opportunities are available for candidates who demonstrate the desire and capability to provide Duty Manager cover and/or deliver swimming lessons either within their normal working hours or as overtime.
The Primary Objective is to:-
To provide safe supervision of bathers, within the swimming pool complex.
Ensure that facilities are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and presentation at all times.
To guide, care for and assist all Leisure Centre customers.
Assist the Duty Manager in the effective control and security of the facility, patrolling all appropriate areas ensuring that equipment is stored safely and securely.
To be aware of all Health and Safety issues within the Centre, to constantly implement and assess procedures drawing attention to any unsafe practices.
To undertake any other duties as may be required to assist in the running of the Leisure Centre.
Portray a positive image of the Leisure Centre, wearing the uniform provided whilst on duty.
The Person
A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential, although full training will be provided if required.
The post holder should also demonstrate the desire and capability to achieve additional leisure based qualifications (including Level 2 Swimming Instructor and National Pool Plant Operators Certificate) and an appetite to progress into a career in Leisure Management.
Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant:
Will be a competent swimmer, and able to complete a range of physically demanding duties and activity set-ups throughout each shift.
Will have the flexibility to work a shift pattern of early morning, late evening, and weekend hours
Will be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required.
Will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how they wish to progress within the Leisure Industry.
Will be hard working, enthusiastic, and reliable.
Will possess good communication skills.
Will be a team player, and enjoy working as part of a team.
The role of a Recreation Assistant is classed as a regulated post. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the postholder to be submitted for a DBS check.
